The preloading of a linear guide rail is to apply a load force to the steel ball in advance. Simply put, it is to increase the diameter of the steel ball and use the negative gap between the steel ball and the ball track to apply preloading. This action can improve the rigidity of the linear guide rail and eliminate the gap. It is worth noting that for small sizes, it is recommended to use preloading below light preloading to prevent the service life from being reduced due to excessive preloading.

Pre pressure is set differently based on different sizes and scenarios. According to the size of the preload, it can be divided into different levels of preload, including no preload, medium preload, and heavy preload. We can choose the appropriate preload according to the purpose.

For conveying equipment, active packaging machines, fuses, etc. with fixed load direction and low impact requirements and low precision requirements, medium preloading can be selected. For discharge machining machines, NC machine tools, industrial robots, etc. with light load and high precision requirements, medium preloading can be selected. For grinding machines, vertical or horizontal milling machines, heavy cutting machines, etc. with rigid requirements and requirements for sensational and impact environments, heavy preloading needs to be selected.

Preloading actually refers to the tightness of the combination between the slider and the guide rail, and the magnitude of preloading directly affects the rigidity of the guide rail. To get back to the point, preloading refers to the tightness of the combination between the guide rail and the slider. To change the preloading of the guide rail, it can only be achieved by changing the diameter of the steel ball. For example, the standard diameter of a steel ball is 3.175. If you want to tighten it, choose a steel ball larger than 3.175. If you want to loosen it, choose a steel ball smaller than 3.175.
