The types of guide rails are divided into six categories: sliding guide rails, rolling guide rails, plastic guide rails, dynamic pressure guide rails, embedded steel, embedded metal guide rails, static pressure guide rails, etc. The classification, main characteristics, and application scope of guide rails are detailed as follows:

1. Sliding rail

Main features: 1. Simple structure, easy to use and maintain.

2. It is easy to crawl at low speeds when complete liquid friction is not formed

3. High wear and low lifespan, unstable motion accuracy

Application: Commonly used in ordinary machine tools and metallurgical equipment

2. Rolling guide rail

Main features: 1. High motion sensitivity, good low-speed motion stability, and high positioning accuracy.

2. Good precision retention, minimal wear, and long lifespan.

3. Poor rigidity and vibration resistance, complex structure, high cost, requiring good protection

Application: Widely used in various precision machine tools, CNC machine tools, textile machinery, etc

3. Static pressure guide rail

Main features: 1. Low friction coefficient and low driving force.

2. Good stability during low-speed motion

3. High load-bearing capacity, rigidity, and good absorption performance

4. A hydraulic device is required, which has a complex structure and is difficult to adjust

Application: Workbenches for various large, heavy-duty machine tools, precision machine tools, and CNC machine tools

4. Dynamic pressure guide rail

Main features: 1. High speed (90m/min~600m/min), forming liquid friction

2. High damping and good resistance to formation

3. Simple structure, no need for complex fuel supply system, easy to use and maintain

4. The thickness of the oil film varies with load and speed. Affects machining accuracy, low speed and heavy load are prone to surface contact of guide rails. Application: mainly refers to machine tool main motion guide rails with high speed and general accuracy requirements.

5. Inlaid steel, inlaid metal guide rail

Main features: 1. A certain hardness non steel plate or steel strip is embedded on the supporting guide rail to improve the wear resistance of the guide rail, improve friction, or meet the needs of welding the bed structure.

2. Bronze metal is embedded on the moving guide rail to prevent biting wear, improve wear resistance, and ensure smooth and accurate movement

Application: The process of embedding steel guide rails is complex and costly. Commonly used for guiding heavy-duty machine tools such as vertical lathes and gantry milling machines

6. Plastic slide rail

Main features: 1. The surface of the dynamic guide rail is covered with plastic soft tape and matched with cast iron or steel guide rails, with a low friction coefficient and a combination of dynamic and static friction coefficients, making it difficult to crawl and having good anti friction performance.

2. The plastic pasting process is simple.

3. Low stiffness, poor heat resistance, and easy creep

Application: The main application is the increasingly widespread use of guide rails with low pressure in medium and large machine tools
